The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) is looking to aggressively promote the business potential of Oman to European countries.
The Centre is participating in a four-leg European city tour with a series of exclusive client events are being hosted in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism starting in London, followed by Paris, Geneva and concluding in Brussels. The objective is to promote the capabilities of Oman and OCEC as an international congress destination and venue.
“OCEC will be able to offer four hotels, a shopping mall and commercial business park in the surrounding precinct. This is all in close proximity to the newly-expanded Muscat International Airport. Further, this is part of a two-year pre-positioning plan to ensure the venue secures business before its opening in 2016,” said Gillian Taylor, OCEC director of business development.
Salim Al Mamari, director general of tourism promotion at the Ministry of Tourism, said: “With the opening of OCEC edging nearer, the road show will enable us to meet with more than 100 clients in key European markets.”
Al Mamari went on to explain that convention delegates, in general, spend three-to-four times more than leisure tourists and this market will help drive economic diversification into the future.
