The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has warned of disruption in Hong Kong as protest in the region grow in numbers.
Residents have been gathering outside central government offices and council buildings in protest against political changes that means an election from candidates approved by Beijing.
Tear gas was used during the protests over the weekend where thousands have gathered, and is set to intensify today as the state celebrates its National Day today (1 October).
Some roads have been closed, causing traffic and delays to public transport.
