Ovolo has opened a new hotel in Hong Kong, which has become a member of the Design Hotels collection.
Located in the Aberdeen area of the city, Ovolo Southside becomes Hong Kong’s first warehouse conversion hotel. As such, it features an industrial-style design with polished concrete floors, steel furniture and exposed water pipes and air-conditioning ducts.
The 162 rooms all feature rain showers, 47-inch 3D TVs and floor-to-ceiling windows, while guests will be offered free breakfast, happy hour drinks, minibar items and citywide Wi-Fi. Other hotel facilities include a 24-hour gym, a restaurant, lounge, and a rooftop bar and event space.
The hotel is also intended to be a hub for the local art scene, with graffiti artwork lining the corridors and a major gallery and exhibition space featuring an 18-metre-long projection wall.
Ovolo Southside becomes Design Hotels’ third property in Hong Kong, following the Mira and Mira Moon. It also becomes Ovolo’s fifth hotel in the city.
