Ajman attracts 415,000 guests in H1 2014

Ajman welcomed 415,000 guests in its hotel establishments in the first six months of the year, compared to 285,000 during the same period in 2013, stated the Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD).
The emirate saw 272,000 hotel guests in the first half of the year, up from 150,000 in the corresponding period a year ago. Meanwhile, hotel apartments’ guests reached 145,000 guests compared to 135,000 last year.
The department expects a 15% increase in number of visitors this year. It did not state the hotel revenue for the first half of the year. ATDD said in September that 180,000 hotel guests stayed in the emirate during the second quarter of 2014, up from 120,000 during the same period in 2013. Guests stayed for 182,000 nights, an increase from 128,000 nights last year.
Also, hotel occupancy reached 65% in the second quarter from 58% during the corresponding period a year ago. Meanwhile, the emirate’s tourism sector’s revenue reached around AED67 million compared to AED42 m in the second quarter of 2013.
There are 31 hotels in Ajman, with 2,922 units and 4,660 hotel beds.
