InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed an agreement to operate a luxury hotel in Perth.
After 18 years of management, the property’s owner UNIR Hotels has decided to redevelop the existing Rydges Hotel and convert it into a 240-room InterContinental.
When the new hotel commences operations in early 2017, InterContinental Perth will be the sixth InterContinental property in Australia.
“The signing of InterContinental Perth is pivotal to IHG’s expansion plans in Australasia,” said Karin Sheppard, IHG’s in-coming chief operating officer for Australasia & Japan.
“We are delighted to be working with UNIR Hotels to bring the InterContinental brand to Perth, complementing our existing distribution in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and the Gold Coast.”
Located in the centre of the city, the refurbished hotel will feature extensive meeting space, plus a new bar and restaurant concept.
InterContinental Perth will become the third IHG property in the Western Australia city, joining Holiday Inn Perth and Crowne Plaza Perth.
