P&O Cruises’ Aurora has left a Hamburg shipyard sporting the cruise line’s new Union Flag livery.
The ship is the first in the fleet to feature the new design, which will be implemented onto the rest of its fleet in the coming months. It has also had its funnel painted blue with the rising sun design.
Aurora has been through a £32 million refit in Hamburg that saw the Sindhu and Glass House restaurants added, as well as a Costa Coffee and ‘Grab and Go’ counter.
Its cabins have all been refurnished and have new televisions, while upgrades have also been made to areas such as the theatre and kid’s club.
In around 20 days the 1,200 contractors replaced five kilometres of pipes, replaced 28,000 square metres of carpet and put in more than 3,000 mattresses.
The ship left Hamburg on Tuesday morning and will arrive in Southampton tonight ready for a Christmas and New Year cruise.
