The Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) will open a new representative office in India this month.
Following a representative recruitment drive launched in 2014, MGTO selected VFS Global to promote Macau in India. And on 28 January 2015, MGTO will officially unveil its new office in New Delhi to the Indian travel trade and media, along with a new range of promotional activities planned for India.
MGTO deputy director Cecilia Tse will be in the Indian capital to oversee the inauguration, which will coincide with opening of SATTE 2015, India’s biggest travel trade show. MGTO will also have a presence at this event.
MGTO first opened a representative office in India in 2002 and has since launched a series of promotional activities in the country, including multi-destination promotions with Hong Kong and Bollywood events in the city.
The MGTO called India one of its “most important potential international source markets”. The number of visitor arrivals from India to Macau totalled 167,000 in 2014, up 4.5% year-on-year. Of this total, 80% stayed overnight in Macau, up 3.1% compared to 2013.
The new MGTO office in India will be headed up by general manager Arzan Khambatta.
