A domestic flight in Indonesia was delayed on Monday following an apparent threat from Islamic State (IS, or Isis).
The Antara news agency reported police in the city of Banjarmasin as saying that a threat was faxed to the city’s Syamsudin Noor Airport, reportedly from the terrorist group, saying there was a bomb on a Kalstar flight.
“We received the threat under the name of Isis through facsimile at 1.30pm on Monday, saying that they would install a bomb on the Kalstar flight heading to Sampit,” police chief AKBP Harun Yuni Aprin was quoted saying by Antara.
The aircraft taken to a secure location and passengers’ baggage was inspected, but no explosives were found.
So far IS has not committed any attacks in Southeast Asia, but authorities in Indonesia are concerned about local support for the movement. On Sunday, Indonesian anti-terror police raided the house of a man suspected of financing Indonesian nationals wanting to join IS in Syria and Iraq.
