The Malaysian animated series BoBoiBoy will be featured in a theme park for the first time, following a tie-up between the cartoon’s creator, Monsta, and RSG, the developer of the Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS).
BoBoiBoy becomes the first local cartoon series to be confirmed at MAPS, which is currently being developed near the Malaysian city of Ipoh. It will join other international animated series at the park, including Mr Peabody and Sherman, The Croods, Megamind and Casper the Friendly Ghost.
“While RSG is committed to redefining family fun, Monsta is redefining family entertainment through animation. Together we have a synergistic partnership that excites and meets Malaysian and Asian family values,” said RSG’s founder & chairman, Ramelle Ramli.
Ramli added that the park is “currently at 40% completion”. Once all phases of the project are completed, the MAPS development will include the theme park, a hotel, serviced apartments and retail and dining outlets.
And the company also said it is “working on securing a few more integrated family destination projects” across Malaysia, details of which are expected to be announced by the end of the year.
