Cambodia Bayon Airlines has selected Abacus as its first GDS partner.
Under the new multi-year distribution arrangement, Abacus will become the only GDS company able to offer the Cambodian carrier’s rates and inventory to the travel trade.
“In Asia, travel agencies remain a core point-of-sale to customers. Abacus, our first and primary GDS partner is therefore the cornerstone of our strategy to establish a consistent booking network and become an accepted world-class flight service,” said Bai Wei Dong, vice president of Cambodia Bayon Airlines.
“We have begun with services between Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville. This partnership will also support our plans to develop the ASEAN region, as well as establishing routes into China, South Korea and Japan.”
Ho Hoong Mau, Abacus’ vice president of airline distribution, added; “Abacus channels over 80% of the agency bookings within Cambodia. We are therefore pleased to be chosen as Bayon Cambodia Airlines’ preferred distribution partner and confident that we can accelerate their expansion plans. Just in Q1, our Cambodia business grew another 10% and we know Abacus agents all around the region will appreciate the added choice as well as differentiation of this home-grown brand.”
Cambodia Bayon Airlines currently operates a fleet of Chinese-made MA-60 turboprop aircraft and plans acquire Airbus A320s to enable its future expansion.
