New Indian airline Vistara has continued its rapid domestic growth, with the announcement of the launch of two new destinations: Lucknow and Bengaluru.
Bookings are now open for the two new routes, which will both launch on 18 May 2015. Vistara will operate daily flights on the Delhi-Lucknow route, rising to twice a day on 16 June. The Delhi-Bengaluru-Mumbai will also start off as a daily service before doubling in frequency a month later.
The announcement follows the recent addition of Pune, Bagdogra and Guwahati to Vistara’s route map.
“We are gradually expanding our pan India footprint and the addition of Lucknow and Bengaluru to our network seemed the most logical way to grow,” said Phee Teik Yeoh, CEO of Vistara.
“The historical and culturally rich city of Lucknow has emerged as a leading commercial hub in the state of Uttar Pradesh while also offering a huge potential for tourism. On the other hand, Bengaluru is one of the most preferred cosmopolitan cities in India offering significant prospects for corporate travel. We are optimistic about the opportunities that these destinations will offer for corporate and leisure travel to our customers.”
Following the new additions, Vistara’s network now spans 10 Indian cities: Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bagdogra, Guwahati, Goa, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune.
Vistara operates all its routes using a fleet of three-class Airbus A320 aircraft. And the airline has also announced plans to launch a new lounge at Delhi Airport by August 2015.
