Chambers Travel Management is working closely with the House of Commons and the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) to ensure newly elected MPs receive seamless travel services immediately after tomorrow’s general election.
Chambers was awarded the contract to provide business travel services to the Houses of Parliament last September and has an implant team of six staff based in Westminster servicing MPs, Peers and staff of both Houses.
Staff from Chambers will be present in the New Members Reception Area (NMRA) in the period following the general election to welcome all new MPs. In addition to explaining the implant team’s role at the Houses of Parliament and procedures for booking travel, Chambers will also advise new MPs about the introduction of myCT which is currently being rolled out within the Houses of Parliament. The bespoke web-mobile travel portal gives MPs a convenient gateway to Chambers’ technology products via any device, whether smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC.
The Chambers implant team will also be operating full booking services over the weekend of May 9t and 10 to ensure MPs’ travel needs are handled personally straight after election day.
“When Chambers was awarded the Houses of Parliament contract eight months ago, we deployed an implementation team to work with House officials in order to ensure a smooth transition of travel services from the incumbent TMC,” said Julie Cope, operations director, Chambers Travel Management. “We engaged with the different customer groups within Parliament to ensure all their requirements were met, resulting in a seamless transition when management of the travel office began.
“We are delighted to be supporting the House of Commons Service through the process of welcoming new MPs to Parliament and look forward to explaining the travel office’s role to them,” she added.
