The Old Railway Yard, Redruth has taken out the top gong of Friendliest Bed & Breakfast of the Year at the AA Bed and Breakfast Awards 2015.
The awards, presented during a ceremony at The Landmark London earlier this week, recognised top B&Bs in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and London, as well as presenting overall awards for Funkiest Bed and Breakfast and Friendliest Bed and Breakfast.
The Old Railway Yard B&B in Redruth was built by Graham Collier and Suzanne Wilson on the site of Graham’s former blacksmith business. When asked about their win Graham said: “For the Old Railway Yard to be a finalist in the AA Friendliest B&B Award is truly amazing but to win is fantastic. To be recognised by such a well established and respected company as the AA is a privilege and an honour.”
The 400 year-old Georgian townhouse, Glove House, located in Woodstock, was named Guest Accommodation of the Year in England; Kingsmuir House, Peebles, took out the equivalent award in Scotland, and Trefloyne Manor, Tenby the same in Wales. Belfast’s Tara Lodge won the award in Northern Island.
Meanwhile, San Pietro in Scunthorpe was named funkiest B&B in the UK.
San Pietro is a unique Restaurant with Rooms offering 14 luxury boutique bedrooms run by Pietro and Michelle Catalano. Each room is stylishly decorated with eye catching and unusual wallpapers and fabrics and feature design furniture classics and limited release artwork.
Pietro Catalano said of the award: “We are absolutely thrilled to be named the AA Funkiest B&B, we are so passionate about what we have created and this accolade is a fantastic reward for the whole team who have all made a tremendous effort to turn our dream for San Pietro into a reality. We are so proud to be putting Scunthorpe on the “AA” map.”
