Air New Zealand will promote some of the world’s most popular surfing spots in its latest novelty in-flight safety video.
The airline has assembled some of the world’s best surfers to take part in the film, which was shot at Malibu Beach in the US, the Gold Coast of Australia and the New Zealand surfing spots of Raglan and Piha.
The new ‘Surfing Safari’ video features 2014 world champion Brazilian Gabriel Medina, Australia’s three-time world champion Mick Fanning, America’s Laird Hamilton, Alana Blanchard and Anastasia Ashley, plus other surfers from Asia and New Zealand.
Air New Zealand’s head of global brand development, Jodi Williams, said the new video would help promote the airline and the featured destinations, as well engaging passengers in the often overlooked in-flight safety briefing.
“Previous safety videos have done a fantastic job in selling seats and driving tourism flows whether it be to New Zealand off the back of the two Hobbit inspired videos and Bear Grylls experiencing one of New Zealand’s Great Walks or the collaboration with Sports Illustrated that boosted tourism to the Cook Islands,” said Ms Williams.
Air New Zealand rolled out its first novelty safety video in 2010, featuring the All Blacks rugby team. It has since produced a series of film featuring a range of celebrities.
