Air Serbia has signed new codeshare agreements and expanded existing partnerships in Europe.
It has inked its newest codeshare deal with Aegean Airlines. Under the agreement, Aegean’s code will appear on Air Serbia’s flight between Belgrade and Athens, as well as its flights between Belgrade and Ljubljana, Sarajevo, Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Split.
Guests will also be able to travel on Air Serbia marketed flights to popular destinations beyond Athens such as Heraklion, Corfu, Rhodes and Larnaca, operated by Aegean. The first travel date under the agreement is set for May 14 and the codeshare flights to the three new destinations in Greece are open for sales. Codeshare flights on the remaining routes are subject to Cypriot, Croatian and Slovenian civil aviation authorities’ approval.
Also within Europe, Air Serbia has expanded its existing codeshare agreement with KLM. The airlines continue to codeshare on the Belgrade-Amsterdam route, operated by Air Serbia, with 10 flights per week, while Air Serbia has recently added its code to flights between Amsterdam and Manchester, operated double-daily by the Dutch carrier. Tickets have been available for sale since 17 March.
In addition, Air Serbia has expanded its codeshare agreement with its equity partner Etihad Airways, to include three routes in Saudi Arabia and one in Egypt. The Serbian national airline added its “JU” code to Etihad Airways’ flights from Abu Dhabi to Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, and to the Egyptian capital Cairo as of 10 May, enhancing connectivity between South East Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Daily connections are available from Belgrade via Abu Dhabi to Jeddah, Riyadh and Cairo. Connections to Dammam will be available five days per week, with no flights on Mondays and Fridays.
Dane Kondić, CEO of Air Serbia said: “Codeshare agreements are an important priority in our strategy of achieving efficient and effective network growth, offering our guests greater flexibility and choice while traveling under an Air Serbia flight code to key destinations around the world. Our strategy is also delivering sound financial results, as a growing proportion of our revenues are achieved through this and other forms of commercial cooperation. With these new developments, we are now enhancing our offering between Serbia and important business and leisure destinations in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.”
