India’s Sarovar Hotels & Resorts has opened a new property in Tirupati, a major pilgrimage destination in Andhra Pradesh.
The new Marasa Sarovar Premiere hotel is intended to capture the holy spirit of the city, as its design is based on the Dashavataras, or images of the Hindu god Vishnu.
Located on the Karakambadi Road, Marasa Sarovar Premiere offers 121 rooms and suites, a fitness centre, swimming pool, indoor games area, vegetarian restaurant, cafe and three meeting rooms.
The company says the hotel is intended as a base for “devotees travelling to Tirupati from around India and the world”.
“The holy hill of Tirumala is, on any given day, filled with tens of thousands of blissed-out devotees, many of whom have endured long journeys to see the powerful Lord Venkateshwara here, at his home,” said Anil Madhok, Sarovar’s managing director.
“The existing demand-supply gap in this temple town offers huge opportunity for hospitality brands. Every brand which was earlier in the luxury segment now wants to have a piece of the business here. We believe that Tirupati Yatra is no longer about an arduous journey to meet Lord Venkateshwara, it is ‘nirvana luxe’.”
Madhok added that following the launch of the Tirupati hotel, Sarovar will target other pilgrimage destinations in India, including Vrindavan, Amritsar and Ajmer.
