GDS provider Sabre Pacific announced the launch of a new service to help agencies take advantage of cloud computing on 4 June.
Sabre Vero will allow travel consultants to access their agency applications as a virtual desktop from multiple devices including Mac, PC, desktop, laptop, zero client, iPad, tablet or smart devices.
The platform is available across multiple locations, each with user-controlled authentication for increased security.
Consultants will be able to choose which applications to include in their virtual desktop, such as Sabre Red, Sabre Pacific applications, Microsoft Office 365, One drive, printing, anti-virus and any agency web applications.
This is aimed at remote or mobile team-members and staff who use in-office hot-desking.
“Sabre Vero allows the travel industry to centralise their technology offering with managed technical support for the Desktop as a Service (DaaS) and associated applications,” said Sabre Pacific managing director, Jeremy van de Klundert.
“By minimising expenditure on local hardware and office based servers, cloud computing is not only a cheaper option for travel agencies but it also delivers efficiency, flexibility and increases consultant productivity.”
A recent Sabre survey revealed that the most important factor for agencies today is to have flexible access to data and the ability to work anywhere. It found that almost two thirds of the respondents need to access their computer files and data at least once daily, and yet only a third have a cloud based solution that allows them to meet this need.
