Sharjah Tourism strengthens its tourism workforce

In a bid to boost its tourism industry, Sharjah is looking to strengthen its capabilities of workforce within various industries related tourism sector.
This new initiative will provide a better experience for visitors as it aims to attract 10 million tourists in line with the Sharjah Tourism Vision 2021.
As part of new priorities, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has launched a new programme to train hotel sector front office staff, including receptionists and customer service representatives.
This is the second phase of SCTDA’s ‘Marhabtain’ initiative which aims to develop human resource capabilities. This phase will help hotel staff improve communication skills, and enable them to provide tourism service in accordance with international standards.
The new programme was announced in the presence of HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, director general of SCTDA along with dignitaries, senior managers of hotels and representatives of key players in the tourism, travel and hospitality sectors.
In the first phase of the Marhabtain initiative, SCTDA had recently launched a training programme for Sharjah`s taxi drivers to enhance their skills to provide outstanding customer service and promote Sharjah’s tourism landmarks.
