Manathai Hotels & Resorts has opened its first boutique property on the island of Koh Samui.
Located opposite a fishing village at Lamai Beach, Manathai Koh Samui is a colonial-style beachfront resort that offers 148 rooms. These include 46 suites and six family suites, which feature two bunk beds and special amenities for children.
Other facilities include a fitness centre, kids’ club, childcare services, two swimming pools and complimentary Wi-Fi. The resort will also focus on F&B, with a total of five outlets including a pub, coffee shop and the Pad Thai restaurant which offers cooking classes.
For the events market, the resort offers meeting rooms ranging from 25 to 66m², plus a beachfront wedding venue.
“Koh Samui is a special destination,” said Manathai’s chief operations officer, Christoph Berger. “It offers a uniquely relaxed atmosphere and we have worked hard to harness this with our reverence for the arts and traditions of Thai culture. We also have established close links with local communities, such as the fishing village, and by embracing local livelihoods we can provide guests exceptional experiences and support our neighbours.”
Manathai Koh Samui becomes the group’s third property in Thailand, following the Manathai Hua Hin and Manathai Khao Lak. A fourth resort, Manathai Surin Phuket, is scheduled to open in October 2015.
