Travel technology firm ClickTripz.com has appointed Damien Retureau managing director of its European division, based in London.
Retureau is tasked with developing ClickTripz’s European client base, in line with the firm’s ambitious expansion strategy.
Having worked in the online travel industry for more than 15 years, Retureau has built an international career, with roles at Orbitz, lastminute, Kelkoo and HouseTrip. He joins the firm’s executive team, comprised of co-founder and CEO Ross Weber, co-Founder and CTO Eric Bjorndahl, CRO Mark Mamber, and co-founder and head of UX, David Bjorndahl.
The firm also this month welcomes another Brit, Dean Hunt, to its 30-strong team – as its new VP of Sales and Marketing. British-born Hunt will split his time between the UK and Miami.
Juliet Simpson, founder and chairman of Stripe Communications, has joined the board of Marketing Edinburgh.
Having founded Stripe Communications in 2006, Juliet became chairman of the agency in March 2015. Her focus is now on the strategic direction and overarching management of the business. Stripe is the largest consumer PR agency in Scotland, working with the likes of John Lewis, A.G.Barr, Scottish Power, G&V Hotel and the Scottish Government. Over the years, Stripe has won more than 40 awards for its work in consumer and brand communications, digital marketing and events.
Prior to launching Stripe, Juliet spent four years in Sydney as head of PR, Corporate Communications and Mass Market Campaigns for Vodafone Australia, where she was responsible for the strategy and delivery of company-wide communications, advertising and online consumer marketing campaigns.
Bedsonline, the online provider of accommodation and travel ancillaries, has appointed Mark Hopper country manager for the UK & Ireland.
He will replace Peter Jones, who developed the position during the past two years and is now joining another business unit within Hotelbeds Group.
Mark Hopper brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the travel industry, working for companies such as Hays and Jarvis, Island Cruises, and ILG in several European locations (Greece, France, Austria and Spain). Prior to joining Bedsonline, he worked for more than six years as sales director in the UK for accommodation provider Getabed.
Anne Morrison, the current Chair of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), has been appointed to the board of London & Partners, the Mayor’s official promotional company for London.
Anne Morrison, who was appointed Chair of BAFTA last year, brings with her a wealth of experience from the creative industries. Before that, Anne enjoyed a long career with the BBC where she rose to be Controller of Documentaries and Contemporary Factual, leading the creation and production of the some of the UK’s best loved factual television programmes. Until last year she was director of the BBC Academy overseeing all of the Corporation’s training across journalism, production and technology.
Commenting on her appointment, Morrison said: “London & Partners produces some outstanding work promoting the capital on an international stage and I’m honoured that I will be able to contribute to that. London’s creative sector both produces, and is a magnet for some of the finest talent in the world. It’s vital that together we continue to champion the amazing work being produced here as well as the opportunities on offer in London.”
With Inghams Executive Director, Hugh Walton, retiring at the end of October 2015 after 20 years’ service, Inghams has announced the appointment of Paul Carter as Inghams’ new chief operating officer, with effect from 7th September 2015.
Carter will take on full management responsibility for Inghams’ established Ski, Lakes & Mountains and specialist Italy programmes, as well as for organic growth plans including a new Inghams Lapland & Northern Norway ‘Winter Inspirations’ programme. The new role also encompasses Aviation & Operations responsibility for the whole, wider Hotelplan UK parent group, including sister companies Esprit Ski, Ski Total and Santa’s Lapland.
On starting in September, he will join the Hotelplan UK board with immediate effect, and also be involved in its current active search for potential further acquisitions to join the UK group.
