Amadeus will expand the amount of Indian hotel content it provides to travel agents following the signing of a new agreement with Travelguru.
The Indian hotel booking site has selected Amadeus to distribute its 20,000+ hotels, which are located in 800 Indian cities. This marks the first time that Travelguru has made its content available through a global distribution system (GDS).
“Amadeus’ true global network of travel agency customers means we can increase our sales channels. In addition Amadeus provides us with a globally adopted platform to engage with, and tap into, new markets which we previously could not reach. Domestically, this helps us to further consolidate our leadership position in the Indian sub-continent,” said Akash Poddar, Travelguru’s head of B2B business.
Travelguru’s hotel content will be available to agents from the third quarter of 2015, via the Amadeus Hotels Plus solution. Agents will be guaranteed commissions when making a hotel booking.
“This partnership with Travelguru ensures that the whole spectrum of hotel properties in India from boutique to budget and high-end luxury hotels are now available to Amadeus travel agents,” said Christian Lukey, head of hotel distribution for Amadeus Asia Pacific.
“India is an increasingly popular destination, for both leisure and corporate travellers, so it’s fundamental that Amadeus travel agents can offer as many choices as possible to their customers.”
