Plateno Hotels Group has signed an agreement to manage its first hotel in Colombo.
A new 181-room midscale hotel being developed by Fairway Holdings will be branded as the ZMAX Fairway Colombo following its opening in March 2016.
Located in the city centre, directly behind the Dutch Hospital Complex, the hotel will form part of a new mixed-use development that will also include shops, restaurants, bars and a rooftop club.
“We are very proud to be working with one of Sri Lanka’s premier developers to manage this landmark hotel in the centre of Colombo, which fills in a key place in our growing domestic network in Sri Lanka and our presence in key capital cities in Asia,” said Kevin Wallace, managing director of Plateno Hotels Group Australasia.
This marks the second recent Sri Lankan announcement for Plateno. The Ranna 212 Beach Resort in Tangalle, on the country’s south coast, will be rebranded under Plateno’s upscale Portofino brand in September 2015.
