Vistara, the new Delhi-based airline, has flown its 500,000th passenger.
The carrier, which is owned by Singapore Airlines and Tata Sons, reached the milestone on 20 August, just over seven months after its inaugural flight on 9 January 2015.
Since its launch, Vistara has grown to a network of 245 weekly flights to 10 Indian destinations: Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bagdogra, Guwahati, Goa, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune.
The 500,000th passenger was Paras Johar, who was travelling from Delhi to Goa. Johar received a complimentary upgrade to business class and Gold membership of Club Vistara, the airline’s FFP.
“The sense of accomplishment we feel today is a truly joyous experience and we are glad that so many customers have ‘flown the new feeling’ with Vistara,” said Phee Teik Yeoh, CEO of Vistara.
“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the customers who have shown faith in Vistara and made us their preferred airline. It is their genuine support and feedback that has helped us grow stronger and more confident. Our customers are a significant part of the Vistara family and I would like to assure them of our unstinting care and attention at all times.”
Vistara operates a fleet of three-class Airbus A320 aircraft, all of which come equipped with in-flight entertainment streaming services.
