Oman airports witness passenger surge

The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) recently released passenger and flight data of Muscat and Salalah international airports till July-end.
Passenger traffic at Muscat and Salalah airports recorded an increase of 11.8% and 19.5% respectively, compared to 2014, taking total number to 6,246,329. The number of travellers through Muscat International Airport including transfers and transit increased to 5,707,270 through 53,483 journeys till July. The number of international flights through Muscat airport reached 47,230, an increase of 14.4% compared to last year.
As many as 5,207,717 passengers travelled through these flights, an increase of 12%. Inbound passenger numbers reached 2,591,542, while 2,596,011 were departing passengers. The number of transit passengers reached 20,164.
There was a 12.5% increase in domestic flights to reach 6,053, carrying 499,553 passengers. These traveller numbers saw a 10% increase. Incoming traveller numbers reached 246,432 with a 10% increase, while there were 253,121 departing passengers. This figure too saw a 10% increase. The number of passengers travelling through Salalah airport till July-end was 539,059. The flight number stood at 5,637 flights.
The airport recorded 2,106 international flights with an increase of 24.5% over 2014. As many as 178,855 passengers travelled on board international flights, an increase of 35.7%.
