Chris Mottershead appointed MD of Thomas Cook UK & Ireland

Chris Mottershead has been named the new managing director of Thomas Cook UK & Ireland.
Mottershead, currently commercial director, will assume his new position from 1 October.
He replaces Salman Syed, who has decided to pursue external opportunities and will be leaving Thomas Cook on 31 October following a handover period
Mottershead will be responsible for driving the change required to deliver profitable growth, with a focus on enhancing the customer experience through differentiated product including own hotel brands, service improvements and quality assurance, according to the company.
Mottershead joined the UK business in April this year as business development director and was named Commercial Director in July. His impressive pedigree in international travel has seen him hold a variety of senior roles in the travel industry, including managing director of TUI Russia & CIS, CEO of First Choice Canada, managing director of TUI UK and president & CEO North American Leisure Group at Airtours PLC (My Travel PLC).
