MasterCard sees more spending this year

Retail sales across Asia Pacific are expected to show continued growth on the back of a strong consumer confidence sentiment for the first half of 2008, according to MasterCard’s latest survey.
Its Worldwide Index of Retail showed that China will maintain its lead with retail sales anticipated to reach RMB 4,743 billion. Other markets with strong growth include Indonesia and Hong Kong. The MasterCard Worldwide Index of Retail is conducted twice a year in June and December.
