European walking specialist On Foot Holidays has launched a short-breaks programme, condensing the highlights of some of its best walks into just a few days.
The self-guided short breaks cover three full days and include accommodation consisting of handpicked farmhouses and small hotels, most of which offer hearty local dishes in the evening.
Walkers will receive a personalised walker’s pack and information booklets, along with relevant itineraries or timetables.
Itineraries of different lengths for nearly all of On Foot’s walks can be found on the route pages of its website. Each page lists all of the possible options for that walk and, as well as short breaks, longer itineraries are also an option.
On Foot Holidays’ 25 routes span Europe and include: Alpes Maritimes, Amalfi Coast, Andalucia, Austria, Bohemia, Bulgaria, the Basque Country, Rhine Castles, Catalonia – La Garrotxa, Catalonia – Priorat, Chamonix, Côtes du Rhone, the Dolomites, Dubrovnik Lycian Way, Mallorca, Sabine Hills, South West England, Tuscany and Umbria.
Each walk has been designed by a Route Adviser – a person who lives locally and has developed an itinerary through varied countryside. There is usually a strong emphasis on good food and wine after a day’s walking, and luggage is transferred between each overnight stop. Every trip has been tested by company director, Simon Scutt, and at least one other member of his team. Flights are excluded.
Short breaks cost from just £380 pp (two sharing) for the Bohemia (Czech Republic) route, including four nights’ B&B, luggage transfers, full route information pack and local support.
