Princess Cruises has revealed that six of its ships will set sail across Alaska next year on 113 voyages.
Guests can choose to travel on a ‘voyage of the glaciers’ tour from Vancouver or Anchorage, or take a roundtrip ‘inside passage’ cruise from Seattle or San Francisco.
The roundtrip is seven or 10 nights, while the voyage of the glaciers is seven nights. Both take in the main Alaska ports of Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway and include scenic cruising through landmarks such as Glacier Bay National Park, Hubbard Glacier and College Fjord.
Over 20 cruise tours are also available through the Voyage of the Glaciers sailings, which allow guests to further explore Alaska by combining a sailing with a land stay. This includes visits to the main Alaska attractions including Denali National Park and overnight stays in Princess Cruises’ wilderness lodges. A number of tours involve travel via a glass-domed rail service, which offers 360-degree views of the passing scenery.
In addition a variety of onboard experiences are on offer through Princess Cruises’ ‘North to Alaska’ programme such as ‘cook my catch’, which gives guests on select fishing excursions the chance to have their catch prepared by a chef on their ship. Alaskan sled dog puppies will be brought onboard for ‘puppies in the piazza’, with their handlers available to answer questions.
Tony Roberts, Princess Cruises vice president UK and Europe, said: “From wilderness and glaciers to whale watching and fresh salmon our Alaska cruises are an unforgettable experience. And the new onboard programme has added another dimension to our sailings, meaning you can immerse yourself in all things Alaska both on and off the ship.”
