The Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATTD) recently inked a memorandum of mutual cooperation with Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) to support the group’s ongoing campaign on environment protection and sustainable development.
The memorandum of mutual cooperation was signed in line with Ajman’s Vision 2021 to build a green economy that provides opportunities, all while preserving the environment. It was signed by Hamad Al Matrooshi, director of the office of strategy and performance and Habiba Al Marashi, chairperson of EEG.
Al Matrooshi said: “The tourism industry plays a key role in raising awareness about environmental protection. Part of Ajman’s Vision 2021 is to create a green economy, develop strategies and implement practices that will better preserve our environment. Some hotels in Ajman are now employing ways to protect the environment in terms of waste management and by partnering with EEG, we hope to further improve the process and encourage other hoteliers to do the same.”
Under the MoU, EEG will support Ajman Tourism’s environmental activities, trainings and workshops to educate the industry about environment protection.
