The on-going Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2016 will witness the launch of key wellness findings by Andrew Gibson, vice president – spa and wellness for FRHI Hotels & Resorts global portfolio. This report will be launched collaboration with the Global Wellness Institute (GWI).
Gibson will unveil key findings from latest research produced by the international think-tank at the ATM’s dedicated wellness themed event.
“Wellness Tourism, especially in the Middle East, is no longer a catch phrase or a passing fad,” said Gibson. “Wellness offerings are moving beyond fitness into a lifestyle journey that seamlessly integrates into future hotel designs and development.”
The research by GWI identified that the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is the second fastest-growing market in the world for spas after Sub-Saharan Africa. The research also points to the UAE toppling wellness growth, more than doubling wellness-focused trips from 2012 to 2017 with an estimated 993,352 trips added and 17.9% annual growth.
