The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAK TDA) recently hosted the third instalment of its bi-annual training course for local tour guides.
The five-day intensive course was held at the Hilton and was hosted by Irfan Mirza, who has a host of experience in the tourism sector.
The training was attended by 25 attendees who had the opportunity to learn about tourism in the emirate, gaining a certificate and badge at the end. This certification allows the guides to carry out tour guide responsibilities in Ras Al Khaimah. Topics covered included general tourism in the UAE, geography and heritage of the Emirate, traditional dress, social structures and customs, local sports, the history of both the UAE and Ras Al Khaimah, sustainable tourism and customer care.
Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority said: “Previous educational sessions like these have proven to be highly successful and beneficial to the tourism industry within Ras Al Khaimah. As the Tourism Development Authority, it is our responsibility to offer training to individuals within the industry to help grow their knowledge of the Emirate, ultimately equipping them in the best way possible to host visitors to Ras Al Khaimah.”
Alongside, the tour guide training, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority also offers a range of workshops throughout the year to help develop the industry.
