India is planning to introduce a new long-term multiple entry visa, the International Business Times reports.
The new facility would be available for several different types of visitor, including business travellers, tourists, conference attendees, and those seeking medical treatment in India.
The multiple-entry visa will have a validity of 10 years, but visitors will not be permitted to stay in the country for more than 60 days at a time, and they will not be allowed to work in India. Applicants will have to submit bio-metric details.
India’s Commerce Ministry has recommended the visa following a suggestion from the Prime Minister’s Office. The Home Ministry is now reported to be working on the proposal, which is likely to be implemented soon.
