Muscat welcomes first AirAsia X flight

Thailand’s AirAsia X has launched services from Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport to Muscat International.
The direct three times weekly service started on 28 June and operates on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Thai AirAsia X is the first long-haul low cost airline to operate to the Middle East and the only airline connecting Omani Passengers to Don Mueang Airport, which is conveniently located near Bangkok’s downtown area and provides good domestic connections for passengers to flying to cities such as Phuket and Chiang Mai.
The airline has launched an advertising and marketing campaigns to promote the Sultanate of Oman in the Thai Market. Some of these marketing efforts have included online advertisement and billboards around Bangkok.
Nadda Buranasiri, CEO of Thai AirAsia X said: “As the first and only low-cost carrier to connect Muscat to Bangkok and beyond, we are pleased to offer low fares and our excellent connectivity as a new travel option for the people of Oman. We would also like to extend our thanks and appreciation to all the relevant organisations that have made this possible.”
The AirAsia X Group has carried more than 19 million guests since it commenced long-haul services in 2007.
The carrier was awarded the “World’s Best Low Cost Airline Premium Cabin” and “Best Low Cost Airline Premium Seat” at the annual Skytrax World Airline Awards for three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015.
The AirAsia X Group operates a core fleet of 31 A330-300s, each with a seat configuration of 12 Premium Flatbeds and 365 Economy seats.
