World Travel Market London has joined forces with travel industry trends specialist Skift to stage a new industry forum at WTM London 2016.
The forum will take place at ExCeL, London, on Wednesday 9 November. WTM London is the only major European travel exhibition Skift will partner with in 2016 and 2017.
The Skift forum at WTM London will bring together top names from some of the most innovative and respected hospitality companies around the world to discuss opportunities and challenges in the hospitality industry, in a session entitled: Faultlines of Disruption in Global Hospitality.
It is being billed as a mini version of the hugely respected Skift Global Forum – the largest creative business forum in the global travel industry, which has quickly earned a reputation for creating and defining the future of travel.
The Faultlines of Disruption in Global Hospitality discussion will revolve around how, since online booking of travel has become mainstream, the hotel sector is being rewired and rethought from top to bottom and every obvious and non-obvious part of hospitality is being turned over, questioned, and retooled.
While consumers have many choices nowadays, some argue they have too many choices, leading to difficulty in making decisions.
With contributions from major players in the hospitality industry, the session will discuss how these fault lines manifest themselves, such as old verses new; consumer verses business and east verses west.
WTM London senior director Simon Press said: “Since Skift burst onto the travel scene four years ago, it has become one of the biggest business intelligence brands in the sector, whose research is read and valued across the industry and whose opinions are sought- after far and wide by the industry and global media.
“No-one understands the changing trends and traveller behaviour better than Skift and the Faultlines of Disruption in Global Hospitality session is sure to be a talking point of WTM London 2016.”
Skift president Carolyn Kremins said: “Skift is thrilled to bring an innovative two-hour mini-forum to WTM 2016 London to explore the faultlines of disruption in the global hospitality sector. This programming will delve into how these faultlines manifest themselves in the form of brand-building versus distribution, leisure versus business, local versus global and other such clashes. We aim to elucidate these conflicts through a series of conversations with industry players at WTM London.”
