InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened a new luxury hotel at a major conference venue in Shanghai.
The InterContinental Shanghai NECC is now open, located within the new National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC) – a huge MICE venue that features approximately 400,000m² of indoor exhibition space.
Located in the Hongqiao area of the city, just 5km from Shanghai’s Hongqiao International Airport, it becomes the only hotel located within the NECC. It offers 536 rooms and suites, four F&B outlets, a business centre and more than 2,200m² of function space.
“Shanghai and the Yangtze River Region is one of the world’s largest exhibition markets,” said Peter Pollmeier, the hotel’s GM. “InterContinental Shanghai NECC is an integral part of Asia’s largest exhibition venue. This unique location offers the finest facilities for corporate and leisure travellers to live the InterContinental life.”
The new hotel becomes the 38th InterContinental in mainland China and the fifth in Shanghai, following the InterContinental Shanghai Pudong, InterContinental Shanghai Expo, InterContinental Shanghai Puxi and InterContinental Shanghai Ruijin.
