From April 2017, travellers will be able to combine their pedal passion with a voyage through some of Europe’s top locations, thanks to two new cycling cruises from APT.
Tapping into the growing popularity of its biking excursions, the river cruise specialist is offering cycle enthusiasts of all levels the chance to discover a different side to two of its most popular cruising holidays.
With gentle-paced excursions along bike-friendly paths led by a team of expert cyclists, the new ‘Cycling Series’ – which form part of the operator’s portfolio of Special Interest Cruising – will encourage active travellers to ride along the riverbanks of Europe. What’s more, each group is accompanied by a dedicated vehicle, ensuring guests can cycle confidently in the knowledge that any technical support they may need is just behind them.
Guests on the new Cycling Magnificent Europe cruise will cycle and sail their way along the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers to gain a new perspective on Europe’s heartland. Highlights of the trip’s seven cycling excursions include the chance to ride around Cologne and Vienna, sample the traditional smoked beer of Bamberg by bike and wheel their way back in time to the medieval glory of Eberbach Monastery.
The 15-day cycle cruise departs Amsterdam (the Netherlands) on 30 April and 17 September 2017, calling at Cologne, Bonn, Andernach, Rüdesheim, Miltenberg, Würzburg, Bamberg, Nuremberg, Regensburg, Passau (Germany), Salzburg, Linz, Melk, Dürnstein, Vienna (Austria) and Budapest (Hungary), where passengers disembark. Prices start from £3,895 per person if booked before 31 October 2016 and include return flights, all meals and drinks onboard a luxurious Concerto River ship, bike hire, guided cycling excursions, on road vehicle support plus all sightseeing and onboard entertainment.
Aimed at more experienced cyclists, those opting for the Bordeaux by Bicycle cruise have four days of classic French cycling excursions to choose from. Passengers can pedal past majestic chateaux’s, indulge guilt-free in the local gastronomic delights of Pauillac and sample the fruits of Bergerac’s world-renowned vineyards from the luxury of their own hybrid bike.
