Dubai-based holding company Meraas has announced plans to expand its innovative ‘Last Exit’ food truck project to new destinations.
The expansion will see 10 family-friendly food truck destinations added, in addition to the original and highly-popular Last Exit, which is located on Sheikh Zayed Road (between Dubai and Abu Dhabi).
Between 20 to 40 food trucks will be located at each of the new destinations, serving people 24 hours, seven days a week.
The new destinations will each showcase a unique design aesthetic and boast an individual identity and charm. Locations have already been identified and include an additional park on Sheikh Zayed Road, across from the first project, two at Al Ain Road, one at Hatta, one at Al Khawaneej, one at Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, two on Emirates Road and one at Al Qudra Road.
His Excellency Abdulla Al Habbai, group chairman, Meraas said: “Last Exit was conceived in-line with Dubai’s tourism vision and our ongoing commitment to provide innovative experiences across the emirate. Therefore, we sought, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, to expand on Last Exit to cover key roads leading in and out of Dubai, and offering residents and visitors who use these roads the highest standards of services, with a special focus on families and tourists.”
Al Habbai added: “These 10 locations will be the first of several stages to follow, with the aim of promoting similar upscale destinations in different areas across Dubai. Works will begin once the required licencing procedures are finalised, and the new destinations will be completed in stages over the coming six months.”
All of the new locations will boast entertainment spaces including play zones for children, spaces for walking and exercising, an open air cinema, a business centre and food trucks operating throughout the day and night.
In addition, Meraas will introduce an app that will allow drivers and families to order food ahead of their arrival to Last Exit. They can pick up order in designated collection spaces.
