Delta Air Lines has revealed that its new premium economy seats will be rolled out on international routes from next year.
Due to be launched in autumn 2017, the Delta Premium cabin will initially be available on the airline’s new fleet of Airbus A350 aircraft, before being expanded to its Boeing 777s in 2018. Delta said that additional aircraft models “may be added” in future.
“Delta Premium is Delta’s latest example of paying careful attention to what customers tell us they want and responding with unique products designed to meet their individual needs,” said Tim Mapes, Delta’s senior vice president & chief marketing officer.
The new premium economy seats will be 48cm wide, have a 97cm pitch and recline 18cm. Additional amenities will include the ‘Westin Heavenly’ in-flight blanket, designer amenity kits, in-flight entertainment systems with 34cm HD screens, noise-cancelling headphones and in-seat power outlets.
Passengers will also be offered a pre-departure beverage service and special in-flight menus, along with the Sky Priority service which includes fast-tracked check-in and security, priority boarding and accelerated baggage services.
The roll-out of the Delta Premium cabin has also allowed Delta to finalise the configuration of its new A350-900 aircraft. These three-class jets will feature 32 Delta One suites, all offering the privacy of sliding doors, plus 48 Delta Premium seats and 226 economy class seats. The aircraft will also come equipped with in-flight Wi-Fi.
