Sri Lankan arrivals continue to soar

Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is booming, with the trend of double-digit growth continuing in October 2016.
According to the latest data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, international visitor arrivals jumped 13.7% to 150,419 in October.
This growth was driven by India and China; arrivals from India jumped 19.3% to 36,471 last month, while visitation from China jumped 19.8% to more than 20,000. These two markets now account for more than 37% of total arrivals to Sri Lanka.
Arrivals from Germany rose 26.5% to 12,246 while the numbers from the UK were up 10% to 10,964.
For the first 10 months of the year, Sri Lanka has now welcomed 1.65 million international visitors, up 14.6% year-on-year.
