A new luxury resort will open on a remote group of islands in the South China Sea next year.
Bawah Private Island consists of five Indonesian islands in the Anambas archipelago, approximately 300km northeast of Singapore. The destination will be accessible via a ferry from Singapore to Batam, followed by a private seaplane to Bawah.
Covering an area of more than 120 hectares, including 13 beaches, Bawah Private Island will feature 35 villas, comprising 21 beach villas, 11 water villas and three garden villas. A maximum of 70 guests will be allowed on the island at any one time. All villas will feature a bedroom, bathroom, living area and bath and shower area.
Facilities and features of the resort include a treetop ‘clubhouse’ with a viewing balcony, a yoga pavilion, a beachfront swimming pool and a spa. Guests will also be offered activities such as hiking and snorkelling.
The resort has a strong ecological focus, with all buildings made using sustainable materials like bamboo, recycled teak and recycled copper. No heavy machinery is permitted on the island, so the resort has had to be constructed by hand. The resort will also purchase fish directly from local fishermen.
