Cebu Pacific has taken delivery of another high-capacity ATR 72-600 aircraft, which it will deploy on three new domestic routes.
The new turboprop aircraft was handed over to the Philippine low-cost carrier on 8 November 2016, becoming the second of a US$673 million order for 16 aircraft placed at the 2015 Paris Airshow.
Operated by Cebu Pacific’s subsidiary, Cebgo, the aircraft will initially be deployed on three new inter-island routes linking Cebu with Calbayog, Ormoc and Roxas. The new aircraft are able to carry 78 passengers in a single cabin layout, compared to 72 in the older ATR 72-500s.
“This new addition to our fleet further forwards our commitment to provide for the growing travel trend while offering more competitive fares to our valued guests,” said Alexander Lao, Cebgo’s president & CEO.
Between now and 2021, Cebu Pacific expects delivery of two Airbus A330, 32 Airbus A321neo and 14 ATR 72-600 aircraft.
