Virgin Atlantic in conjunction with its joint venture partner, Delta Air Lines is making changes to its summer 2017 schedule, offering a third daily London Heathrow (LHR) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) service. The move reflects the joint venture’s strong ambitions to listen to customers and provide the best service and experience possible across the Atlantic.
Beginning May 2017, Virgin Atlantic will fly three times a day between London Heathrow and Los Angeles, creating greater choice of flights for customers during the peak summer travel season. All three services on this route will be operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft – Virgin Atlantic’s most fuel-efficient aircraft, offering three cabin classes, including fully flat bed and aisle access seats in Upper Class. Upper Class customers booking tickets on this route will also receive complimentary limo service to and from the airport, as well as Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse access.
As part of the joint venture, Virgin Atlantic and Delta continue to co-locate their operations across key gateways, including London Heathrow, Atlanta, Orlando, Cancun, Detroit and New York. By May 2017, the two airlines will be co-located in LAX, Terminal 2, making connections between flights seamless for customers who want to travel onwards to over 20 Delta destinations, including Mexico, Hawaii and other parts of the U.S. The co-location of Virgin Atlantic and Delta in LAX is part of Delta’s larger $1.9 billion plan to modernise, upgrade and connect LAX Terminals 2 and 3 over the next seven years, as well as connect these terminals to the Tom Bradley International Terminal.
Erik Varwijk, Executive Vice President, Commercial, Virgin Atlantic said: “We have been flying between LA and London for over 25 years and this additional service will offer our customers even more choice in flight and connection times between these two fast-paced cities. All three flights on this route will be operated by our brand new Boeing 787-9 aircraft, giving our customers the most optimal Virgin Atlantic experience, including on-board Wi-Fi and power at every seat. Together with the increased connectivity as part of our joint venture with Delta, we’re able to offer our customers the best possible experience when flying between London and Los Angeles.”
