The Chinese ship involved in the hunt for the wreckage of flight MH370 has completed its search and is returning to Shanghai.
An update provided this week by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) this week confirmed that Dong Hai Jiu 101 concluded its underwater search operations on 3 December and headed back to port in Australia. It is now returning to Shanghai.
The independent search vessel, Fugro Equator, continues to search for the missing Malaysia Airlines aircraft, which disappeared on 8 March 2014 while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. The search operation is expected to end in February 2017.
Despite several pieces of wreckage having washed up on the coast of Africa and islands in the Indian Ocean, the main body of the Boeing 777 still has not been found, nor have the 239 people who are believed to have perished onboard.
