It is not just the planes, trains and roads that will be busy this Christmas. Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) has more than 2000 people heading off in search of sunshine on two ships later this week, for the Christmas & New Year period.
As Magellan and Marco Polo cruise around the Canary Islands and visit Madeira, passengers will be able to wave to each other. This is because on four separate occasions the ships are visiting the same destination.
Magellan departs from the London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury, Essex on Wednesday afternoon (21 December) on a 15 night cruise. Meanwhile, down in the West country CMV’s Marco Polo cruise sets off from Bristol – Avonmouth on a similar itinerary a day later.
Both ships will be in Gibraltar on Boxing Day at lunchtime. In Lanzarote both ships will once more be together. One of the highlights of both cruises will be the call into Madeira on New Year’s Eve when the visit will allow time to see the world famous spectacular fireworks.
Finally, in the Portuguese capital Lisbon the final meeting of these two traditional British style cruise ships will take place on Monday 2nd January as the ships head back to the UK.
