Maldives booming despite crisis

Maldives tourism industry is still booming, despite the current economic current crisis facing most other countries, Maldives Tourism Update (MTU) has reported two of the archipelago’s major stakeholders as saying.
Shoumo Mukarjee, Sales Manager of Universal Enterprises, told MTU that all its resorts are fully booked until January, and that the group has so far not experienced any cancellations. Meanwhile a statement from Villa Hotels revealed that all resorts operated by Villa Group are fully booked until end of February, again with no cancellations thus far.
The country was recently boosted by the start of SriLankan Airlines’ direct flights between London and Male.
