Egypt expects India tourism boost

Egypt expects a 10% growth in tourist arrivals from India in 2009. Anil Mathur reports that the Egyptian Tourism Authority’s new Director for India, Magdi Selim, made the prediction at an ‘Egyptian Night’ function at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi, on Friday night. Selim said that both India and Egypt have striking similarities in culture, and that Egypt would try to woo more Indians to the country this year. MICE, honeymoon, yachting, beach, golf holidays are some thrust areas for promotion.The Egyptian Ambassador to India, Mohamed Higazy, said that he wants to boost the trade between India and Egypt from the present US$4 billion to US$8 billion next year.
Attendees of the event were entertained by traditional belly dancers from Egypt.
