Dubai, United Arab Emirates 16 September, 2009 (TravMedia.com) - Travelport, one of the world’s leading providers of global distribution systems (GDS) operating the Galileo and Worldspan platforms, today announced that it has signed a region-wide agreement to become the preferred GDS provider of Al Hind Tours and Travel.
Effective immediately, the multi-year deal ensures that the growing travel group will benefit from the strength of the Galileo GDS offering, including access to a comprehensive range of airline fares and inventory, as well as a full spectrum of industry-leading travel technology solutions and services.
“After weighing all of our options, we reached the conclusion that Travelport provides the best combination of technology, content and support,” said P.V. Valsaraj, Managing Director, Al Hind Group. “As a growing business, it is essential for us to work with a hands-on technology partner that is strong in these three areas and can help us achieve both our operational and commercial goals,” he added.
Already the preferred GDS provider for the travel group’s principal operations in India, Travelport’s new regional agreement with the agency means that Galileo is also now the preferred GDS for all Al Hind branches in the Middle East, located across the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.
“At Travelport, we pride ourselves on being able to meet the requirements of all types of travel agency customers, and are dedicated to working with them to find solutions and services that meet their specific needs,” said Rabih Saab, Vice-President, Travelport GDS, Middle East. “Al Hind is a dynamic travel provider with ambitious growth plans and we look forward to working closely with them as they move from strength-to strength.”
Established in 1989, Al Hind Tours & Travel offers complete travel management and a range of travel services, including inbound and outbound tours. Continually seeking new horizons, the travel group offers a global perspective to its customers and aims to expand its international network significantly over the next several years.
Galileo has been the leading GDS in the Middle East for the past 18 years and is used by 15,500 travel agents in the region. As one of the GDS platforms under Travelport’s umbrella, the Galileo system remains one of the most flexible and widely-used travel booking channels in the world.
