Myanmar joins the trade show circuit

Myanmar is making efforts to promote its tourism industry by attending international travel trade shows and marketing the country’s attractions, according to a Xinhua report. The Myanmar Tourism Promotion Board’s Marketing Committee will attend this year’s ITB Asia in Singapore next month, followed by the World Travel Market in London. Next year will see promotional efforts move to Fitur 2010 in Madrid, the ATF in Brunei, Bit 2010 in Milan and ITB Berlin.
According to official statistics, cited by Xinhua, a total of over 260,000 tourists visited Myanmar last year, contributing US$165 million to the country’s economy.
