Egpyt and Jordan consider ‘logistics zone’ to aid transport and tourism

Egyptian and Jordanian officials are reportedly considering establishing a ‘logistics zone’ close to the Jordan-Iraq border to further develop transportation links, tourism and the movement of travellers between the two countries.Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif recently met with Jordanian Minister of Industry & Trade Amir al-Hadidi and Minister of Transportation Alaa Batayneh to discuss the project.The countries subsequently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to liberalise air and land transportation links between the two countries with a view to establishing the new zone.The deal was co-signed by Egyptian Minister of Transport Alaa Fahmi, Minister of Trade and Industry Rasheed Mohamed Rasheed and Jordanian Minister of Transportation Alaa Batayneh and Minister of Industry & Trade Amir al-Hadidi.
