In a bid to promote international tourism, The Real Japan travel agency has launched an online contest, offering the winner an expenses-paid trip to the land of the rising sun. Beginning the adventure on 15 September, the ‘100+1 days Travel Volunteer’ will visit all of Japan’s 47 prefectures and share impressions through a dedicated travel blog and through social networks.
The Japanese tourism industry has been struggling since 11 March earthquake, tsunami and subsequent nuclear disasters. But contrary to international perception, many cities in the country have no damage and are functioning normally. The project aims to show the world that Japan remains a safe destination while helping to promote international tourism in support of its weakened economy.
We decided to create this project to show that Japan still is a safe and wonderful country to visit and promote it amongst the world’s travellers.Hiroshi Kuchiki, Founder of The Real Japan
Candidates are invited to apply by 31 July 2011 and international support is also sought for this non-profit initiative. Detailed information is available on the project’s website: www.travelvolunteer.net and Facebook.
